Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information Skillcodex ("we," "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Skillcodex, you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

• Account information — your email address and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
• Google sign-in (optional) — if you choose "Continue with Google," we receive your email address and basic profile identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
• Your content — the data you create in the app: track enrollments, reading and chapter progress, notes, tracked companies, and job applications.
• Documents & profile content — files you upload (résumés, cover letters, supplemental material) and any supplemental information you enter to power the AI assistant.
• Technical data — basic logs and, if you consent where required, product-analytics events used to understand and improve how the app is used.

How we use your information

• To provide and maintain the Service and your personal workspace.
• To send transactional emails — email verification and password resets. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
• To understand usage, diagnose errors, and improve the product.
• To power the AI assistant — when you request a résumé review, tailored documents, or learning recommendations, we send the relevant profile content (such as your résumé and supplemental info) to our AI provider to generate them.
• To keep the Service secure and prevent abuse.

Cookies

We use a strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. If product analytics are enabled, our analytics provider may set additional cookies or identifiers to measure usage. We do not use advertising cookies.

Service providers

We share limited data with vetted providers only as needed to run the Service:

• Hosting & backups — our cloud host and encrypted database backups (Amazon Web Services).
• Email — our transactional email provider (Resend) delivers verification and reset messages.
• Analytics — our product-analytics provider (PostHog) helps us understand usage.
• Error monitoring — our error-tracking provider (Sentry) helps us detect and fix bugs.
• AI features — our AI provider (Anthropic) processes the profile content you submit to generate reviews, documents, and recommendations. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models.
• Document storage — uploaded files are stored with Amazon Web Services (S3).
• Sign-in — Google, if you use Google sign-in.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train AI models.

Skillcodex participates in the Amazon Associates Program. When you click a book link and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission. Clicking these links may share standard referral information with Amazon under Amazon's own privacy policy.

Your rights & choices

• Export — download a complete copy of your data anytime from Settings → "Export my data."
• Delete — permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → "Delete account." This cannot be undone.
• Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights (access, correction, objection). Contact us to exercise them.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your personal data is removed from our live database promptly; residual copies in encrypted backups are rotated out in the normal backup cycle.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and per-user data isolation. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

Skillcodex is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate.
